THE IDEA

The FULLDOME SHOW for Immersive Dome cinemas, Planetarium and Science Centers will showcase 1.0.1. facts and general musical fun related to ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION AND SYNTHESIS.

THE SHOW WILL FEATURE AN ORIGINAL AUTHENTIC SOUNDTRACK, QUIRKY AND ENTERTAINING WITH A FEW “AHA!” EDUCATIONAL MOMENTS

A series of unique PERFORMANCE AND HANDS ON WORKSHOPS will be given during opening week for each venue – featuring iconic synthesizers, electronic percussion , sound FX and experimental noise makers.

Some on-site INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS will be on offer to venues to enhance the project experience.

OUTLINE OF THE ANIMATED SHOW

The animated show is only 30 minutes, so facts will be snappy and not run in any linear order. (Also allowing for a few musical and whimsical moments) Bullet points include:

  • Early days Elisha Grey, Teleharmonic Theremins Tone wheels.
  • Synth 101  Oscilators Waveforms Envelopes Filters and Amps.
  • Using tape (Echo and Sci-Fi movies)
  • Russian experiential – drawing audio.
  • 1950s AUDIO LABS RCA, RAYMOND SCOTT – Big machines, flashing lights. Commercials and movies/
  • 1960s – Moog Buchla etc Switched-On-Bach Popcorn
  • 1970s Progressive music. Big setups ELP TD etc
  • 1980s Synthville. Iconic Synth riffs..
  • Drum machines
  • Midi
  • Sampling
  • Windsynths and unique performance methods
  • Analogue to Digital Machine evolution
  • Noise machines, experimental modules, quirky and downright eccentric devices
  • Eurorack DIY revolution
  • Synth as ultimate creative expression tool

The musical score and sound design of the show will completely original and derived through hands-on creative workshops utilising authentic instruments and/or vst software and samples. Working alongside producer Jeff Skinner will be two professional musicans, a percussionist and a keyboard/synthesist player. The score will be collective endeavor.

A custom built 20 meter square studio space has been created, with a 3 meter high dome as the mastering suite. The dome will mimic a scaled down approximation of a typical SCIENCE CENTER / PLANETARIUM DOME CINEMA venue. This will allow musicians to work in real time and space with 360 degree video sequences when recording tracks

Its hoped a truly creative, innovative, entertaining and technically impressive 30 minute musical production will be achieved.

THE NEW STUDIO Oct 1 2020

Newly built 20 square meter space. Sound proofed half dome mastering space with 6 KRK professional audio monitors (5.1 SURROUND) and 5 ultra short throw HD projectors stitched for visual immersion with full stereoscopic presentation ability (multiple active 3D glasses use up to 20 people). Attached side support audio control room + animation studio and VR Motion capture.

SHOW TO BE NARRATED BY A WELL KNOWN INTERNET PERSONALITY –

“magic hands…”

To make images POP in stereoscopic 3D – graphics will be simple, almost like a naive painting, driven by audio waveform motives and abstract shapes. Sequences will be supported by a group of HUMANOID CHARACTERS assisting as well as doing their own chaotic thing. The ‘NARRATOR‘ will be represented by his hands, occasionally assisting the presentation. Concepts will be linked and driven by a vibrant 5.1 SURROUND AUDIO SOUND TRACK giving great attention to how sounds and visual elements sync spatially in the 360 dome environment. (UTTERLY THE MOST COOLEST AND FUN REASON FOR DOING THIS PROJECT. .. J. )
